One thing you may get if you tow it to a shop is a electrical system test. A thorough test of the battery (voltage is just part of the test) as well as alternator output and starter draw. You can throw parts at it until you get to the problem. Your choice.

Ok, I’ll see if some metal sticks. Does it have to be running for this to be magnetized? (Honest question)

While it's running, you can use a small screw driver, but take care not to touch anything else except that round bearing or you will need a new regulator. ask me how I know.

When a battery is getting close to discharged, lots of weird things can happen.
