Took a 5 hr cruise to Creede, CO for the annual show this past weekend. The Aspen trees are turning and were spectacular. Sunday was cold and rainy with some snow around 10,000 ft. Was a great trip!

This was at my local paint store for at least a year or 2, its a poster of a blue ‘68 HEMI GTX. Its a tad bit torn… but its mine now. I got some paint there today and I told the guy workin there that “I see your poster in your display case and I’m a car enthusiast do you wanna sell it.” He already knew I was a Mopar guy, so he said “sure take it.” His significant other didn’t even know it was there, she said “car poster” kind of confused then opened the case and said “I didn’t even know it was there”….

My stepdad got a surprise in the mail today from the previous owners of his copper ‘69 Charger, they sent him the original license plate that was used new with a letter.

Interesting. I remember when Alberta license plates were bright yellow with black letters. I wonder what year that started?

EDIT: The yellow plates ran from 1975 - 1984.

Our '69 Charger is coming to the end of a two-year restoration. My wife and I are the original owners. North Carolina allows a "year of manufacture" plate to be used on the car if the car is actually registered as an antique vehicle, but apparently it is not required to use a plate actually issued by the state of NC, so I have some options:
The original 1969 Alabama plate, or one specially-made by a company in Florida. What do you think? The car actually wore the NC officially-issued CHAHJAH plate when it was last on the road in 1996.

I would have to look into the rules for running an old license plate on the back of an old car in our state, I dont know if the rules are the same here in Connecticut or not. I know a friend has all old plates on the back of his cars, and he just keeps the modern classic plate under his seat. All of your plates are all good, but if I had to pick I would say the “Heart Of Dixie Alabama” plate. I would love to see a picture of the car too by the way.

I have a 1966 Austin-Healey that carried the officially-issued personalized plate TARHEELY from 1984 to 2009. That's when I learned that registering a car with an antique tag limits the county evaluation of the car for property tax purposes to $500, and that reduced my property taxes on the Healey from $75/year to $5/year. I keep the antique plate under the seat in case law enforcement ever questions the plate on the bumper (nobody ever has), and I had a replica 1966 NC tag made with TARHEELY on it and that's the one on the bumper. I've spoken with a License and Theft Inspector at the local DMV office about this, and he said it drives him crazy, but it is legal according to the law. North Carolina is very friendly to us old car folks.
I also have a 1973 MG Midget, and when I managed to contact the original owner (who sold it in 1976) I found that he still had the original license plate, and he sent it to me along with the original driver's handbook and warranty card. For that car, it carries the original 1973 NC tag.
I will post some photos of the Charger when it finishes the resto, supposed to be this month.
