Wasn't going to, but what the heck. Maybe I've been out of the picture too long.

Anybody use Mopar's .028 shim head gaskets? Just curious if what I got my hands on is the normal P part? For each head gasket, it's 2 shims, riveted together at three tabbed locations, to add up to .028 (actually .0275).

I've never seen such BS before. But, it's been awhile.

Probably going to use 'em, but my own way.

Sounds like a typical MLS gasket. This is a cometic. Good stuff.

MLS? Multible Layer?

No. Nothing like in the pic.

What I've got was in a Mopar labeled pack (made in USA) (yeah, right!)...regular P part stuff.
For each gasket, two loose separate shims, riveted at three tabbed locations. Fairly pricy compared to stock .021s.
Hell, guess I'm in line with the Lone Ranger.

IF I use 'em, I'll cut the tabs off, paint them with coppercoat, and stack 'em. Looking at numbers...both thousands and $.

Thanks for replying!!

Those in the pic that I posted are riveted in three tabbed locations just like you're talking about. Multi layer steel shim. Some are two, most are 3 and some are even 5 layer. If they're new and the heads and block have the a fresh, correct surface on them, you can use them dry. If re-using them or working with a less than perfect surface, copper coat them.

Many thanks for that, Hemirunner!

Yup...behind the times. It will go.

Nothing like a dash of salt in the wounds.
Just the word Hemi does it. Always wanted to get my greasy hands on one of those things!

Pat that baby on the rear for me.
