Really a Happy Valentines Day Gift

I got this Springfield XD .40 cal. S&W w/accessories & case, from my girlfriend of 10 years Honey {yes that's her real name}, not my 1st choice in a firearms, but it's the thought that really counts, it was very thoughtful for damn sure, that was way up & beyond, "anything" I ever have gotten or ever would have "expected"... It make the dozen roses w/a vase & box of chocolates, teddy bear {TV advert} with a spa day certificate, that I got both her & her 12 y/o daughter Felicity {she's a devoted single mother, with a great daughter}... Damn makes me kind of look cheap now...LOL... she might be a real keeper, I've never really got anything on Valentines Day at all really ever, other than a gift/dinner, than latter the bill expense or maybe get laid, I got silk sheets for my Calf. King size bed one year, this really Blows That Away, Literally...LOL... this kind of makes up for the 40+ years of nothen'...

my buddy just picked up a S&W .40 the other day. very nice piece for sure. he's left handed, (like me) and he says it's one of the only ambidextrous pistols out there...

Those are nice pistols. The XD's that I have shot all had a decent trigger which is impressive given the price point. Have fun with it and get your CCW before they ban that too. I really like the .40 round for a carry pistol.

I'll like it, I'm sure, I'm really a big fan of the 1911 Colt's thou, I have 10mm/.40ca S&W/.45acp & an AMT long slide 7" magna ported version, but like they say "beggers can't be choosers", I never owned a Springfield, I have a FFAL & a CCW...LOL...

I haven't fired it yet ... I'm going to take Pops to the range or out in the stick somewhere up here, go shoot up some beer cans & targets, sometime very soon & bring a couple of the old family heirlooms, to fire also... Honey isn't really much of a shooter, I have taught them all the basics, including all the children hers & mine, my girls love to shoot, but I'm sure she will want to come & participate thou...

A .40 is a good choice as that's the only ammo that seems to be found with any consistency (around here anyway) these days. And by consistency I mean it stays on the shelf for two hours as opposed to the one hour a case of 9mm lasts.

The only thing I don't like, is it's made in Croatia {seems to be very nice workmanship thou}, not here in there Geneseo, Ill. Plant, the money goes to the parent USA company thou, so it doesn't bug me too much... I like to always have Amercan made stuff, when ever possible...

Thanks for all the responses guys... Best Valentines Day gift ever, normally it's me spending a ton of $$$ instead...LOL... The best part guys is, she lives 100 miles away & we still get along great, we have a great relationship, her job is in Sacramento, when I moved to Sonora 6 years ago {purchased the house 9 years ago, to get my Pops off the mountain & out of the 4-5ft deep snow, so he could take it easier, in his retirement years, not having to dig out all the time}, Honey/she was "going back to school to finish her degree", she wanted to stay in that area, stay at her job & so far it's worked out great, she's a great mother {has a 12 y/o girl & 17 y/o boy} & she's a great person, she's a real keeper...

Thanks Pabster... I'm with ya, that's why I posted this, best thing I have ever got, other than getten' laid, was some silk sheets, for my bed, 20+ something years ago...LOL... I usually just accept the fact, it's a womans holiday/gift day...
