Here are the best two backing plates I've extracted from my two cars (68 and 69 'X).

I certain both these came from the 68.

So something is different between the two obviously. So which one is correct for a '68? Also if you have a mate to make a complete correct set let me know!

You have a left and right, with correct mouse ear wheel cylinder mount. may just be a vendor difference between the two different anchor mount plate at top.

The two do interchange without issue (other than L/R).
I don't know if it is a year issue or a vendor issue in the difference. I wouldn't mind too much, but the plate on the inside on the upper pin is different so if you compare the two you will notice the difference when assembled.

The other difference is the outside plate on the upper pin on one of the two has a stop to limit outward travel of the wheel cylinder pistons....a safety feature.

Still would like to find a matching set.

The one with the limit for the cylinder is a newer plate.....not sure when it came out though.
