I'm not sure what rear end I have under my 62 440.
The tag has 0954 and the casting numbers are 723599, 10325 and it's a 10 bolt rear end. I was told it was a 77 cop rear end.
Any help would be good.
Thanks

nuts to the center carrier facing rear or forward

You tell me...

It's an 8 1/4.
Thanks

Behind a 440?

oh, oops, under a 440, not behind one. Derp...

No problema, that picture has turned out to be might handy.

well I thought so, but it does not fit....to wide...now it's for sale...

it's a 65 b body and I had the purges set to 42'' from inside to inside. it's a 62'' from the out side of the break drum to out side.
casting is 2070741 with a 323 sure grip. 10" breaks. asking what I have into it 750.00. It's all there from drum to drum.

Not sure what the perches are supposed to be, but i think your year should be 59" or 60" from axle flange to axle flange, so we are talking about like 1" on each side when you account for the drum thickness.

Are your tires so wide they rub?

with the new American racing t d's 8 x 15 they rub. they are 275 60 r15.

Sorry to high jack - but is there any way to know what's inside your pumpkin w/o opening it up?

Either something is wrong with it, or it works as designed because mine is locked up all the time Lift rear end, spin one tire - the other one spins the same direction (which would indicate a sure grip) however cornering - where I thought it would release is still locked up??

It could be set up too tight (clutches or cone) or it has a spool or the spiders have been welded up or it's rusted up and locked. Found one like that one time. Pulling it out is pretty much the only way to tell.
