What is a good rear ratio for streetability and good low end punch?
strong 440 with a TQ727, Ford 9",right now it has 3:15's. I was thinking min 4:10/11's. Not planning on alot of highway use so basically 0-speed limit ....quickly lol!
Opinions welcome

Or 4.30 depending on your tire size..... Limited MPH for everyday use will apply, but Oh boy you'll feel it from light to light!

I'd go 3.91s. Highway will not be fun with those but it will be do-able for short trips.

4:10's are awesome, but for me the best fit I have ever had in a big block mopar was 440 with 3600 stall converter and 3:91 gears. It was awesome between the lights!

I have a 440/4, nice cam, built 727, 3500 stall with 4.10's and it's a tire roaster on demand. If I had the cash I'd prob change to 3.55 or 3.73 don't think it would really hurt my light to light.

Big blocks can pull numerically lower gears pretty danged good, so I would think a 3.91 would be good.

I have a 440 crossram 18 spline a833 and a 31 spline nine inch, not completed yet...but I have 3.5's in the 9" and I think they'd be a great allround gear

Is this ratio a Ford 9" or the Chrysler 8-3/4? I looked up Summit etc and could only find 3.89, 4.00 and the 4.11 ratio's etc. This was Richmond Gear.

I use 4.30's with a 30" tall tire. I run the highway all the time turning 3200 rpm at about 60 mph. But I may try going down to 3.91 as I really dont think it will slow down much if any in the 1/4 mile with all the torque of my 493. Ron
