I am in the process of replacing the rear leafs in my 69 roadrunner (espo +2). I am looking for shocks for the rear. I wanted to use bilstein but was concerned that the extra 2" would take them out of their effective range. I tried calling and speaking with bilstein and they stated they do not make shocks for a 69 roadrunner. Pst sells shocks that bilstein said must have been altered to use. My question is ... What is the correct way to do this? I am certainly not the only person that has ever put a +2" springs on! Thank you for your time

Try "C" body shocks they are longer. Don't know if Billstien makes a C body shock though? Or D-150 truck. These are the most common fixes.

Ok. I looked up on pst's website... They are listing the same shock for a 69 fury and a 69 roadrunner...how can that be?

maybe try PM'ing James from PST. they are a vendor here.

I did that from the beginning. He told me that bilstein doesn't make a longer shock and kyb's would work. I asked for a part number and he sent me a link to the shock page! He tells me they will work but won't tell me which one I need. No dimensions available online. I'm dealing with the same thing on a master cylinder. Everyone wants to sell you something but they don't tell you what is best for your application. Why have techs?

wow really? Weird. James has always been nothing but helpful when he's on this board or when I've PM'd him. could be that they moved him up and somebody else is working the counter??

I have been dealing with James. I think he is trying to be helpful but just doesn't know the answer.

Here is the conversation that we had. I really don't know how I could be clearer. You never originally asked for specs. You asked for a part number which was supplied in the link. Then when you asked for the specs. I supplied them.

I am getting ready to order a sway bar kit and bilstein shocks for my 69 b body. I think members get a discount but don't know how to use it. Any help would be appreciated. Any promos coming up? Love your stuff! Thank you

Great. Thank you. One more question: I am replacing the worn leaf springs with espo springs (+2".). Would I need a longer shock because of the 2" change? I appreciate your expertise on this. Ready to order as soon as I determine exactly what I need. Thank you

Dane

I sent a quick note yesterday in reference to longer bilstein shocks. Has there been any word back. I wanted to try and get an answer before my leaf spring order was processed in case I needed to order regular springs. Please let me know. Thank you.

He Dane,

I checked with our supplier of Bilstiens (RCD) and they do not offer a longer version. I can only get shorter version.

Thanks
James

Hi Dane,

I really couldn't tell you. Most if all inquiries I get other than stock height is to lower the car. Now our KYB line will work with cars that have been raised up to 2" if you are happy with them? They are a good quality shock.

Thanks
James

Perfect. They don't need to be bilsteins. Could you provide me with the part number for front and back so that I can get them ordered? I also need to order a front swaybar kit for a 69 roadrunner that never had one. Thanks a million!

The page does not tell me the length! I need ones longer than the bilsteins. There are no dimensions. I thought maybe you would know since you sold them??

Re: Code/sale?
Hi Dane,

Sorry that I missed your call I'm in the office till 4:30. (EST) We do not put the demension on our site. What I was trying to explain is that the stock application KYB shock can be used in a car that has been raised 2". What is the best time to call you ?

Here are the specs

Extended Length 22.64 Compressed Length 13.98 Stroke 8.66

Thanks
James

Are lower shock extensions no longer available? Can not even rember who made them but had a 2" extension.

James..... You did answer with specs after this posting was made. I appreciate your time. I ordered the kyb shocks and sway bar (from a different supplier at a MUCH lower price.). As a matter of fact I purchased all 4 shocks (same part #) for less than pst has a pair priced ...including discount. I appreciate good product and price almost as much as I appreciate good customer service. Bottom line is I am new to repairing my mopar by myself and feel the need to ask questions in order to make sure I am getting the right products and making the right choice on which products I purchase. I work hard for my money and will spend it with those that appreciate my business. Sure it's only a few hundred dollars..... This time

I could not agree more. We are all on budgets on our builds. It is always better to be a conscious buyer and ask questions. There are no stupid questions. The only one is the on that is not asked. My only issue was that you stated that I did not answer your question. I could not because it was not asked. I try to be as helpful as possible and return questions as quickly as possible. I am very busy between all the various Ford, GM and Mopar forums. But I do find the mopar forums to be the most fun and most engaging and I tend to spend the most time on them. So I do apologize if I am short in my answers.

I asked for part numbers and was referred to the catalog. I appreciate your expertise and time James but all that you said was " the line of kyb shovks would work. I had no idea that a stock kyb shock was generally made - 1 1/2" longer than stock. To me it just didn't make sense that I needed a longer shock but could use a standard shock because of how they are made. That's why I asked the question.
