Rear Upper Shock Bolt Torque

I had a set of those adjustable Ranchos on another car. For some reason, they didn't live very long.

Is there no sleeve in your upper shock mount?

Did you torque down to 70 ft/lbs?

Got the NAPA sleeves burned out. They're a quarter inch longer than the Bilstein sleeves. Now what kind of finish do I put on them, to keep them from rusthing?

I cleaned the rubber smoke off the NAPA sleeves. I'm a bit worried that there could be some residue that would keep a coating from sticking. These things haven't rusted any yet though, could they be galvanized? It's been a couple days. I usually have bare steel flash rust in minutes.

These tubes weren't extruded, but cut from a sheet and rolled. I'm ever so slightly concerned about the seam eating up the inside of the bushing. I guess if I put the seam at the top the poly in that area won't have much pressure on it.

You can see that some of the teeth are worn down though. Enough that they shouldn't be used? Maybe not, but I wish that wear wasn't there.

You're overthinking things. Leave 'em as is, press 'em in and be done with it. They'll outlive you !!

TBH I think you're right. I wish I knew more about metal. It looks like this stuff isn't rusting, but I can't say why.

You can hardly tell with all the lube I put on, but the NAPA sleeves only stick out a 1/16 on each side. Maybe.

Anyone with the Viking Warrior shocks want to show off your inner sleeves? I'm curious to see if they send out better hardware than Bilstein or not.
