Geez! $725.00? Guess those Manatees are sensitive! Somewhere local or did you have to ship?
Here is a place that I just sent my parts to. They are an old school company (grandfathered in to use older chemical process) they have been around since 1952. That there should say a lot. Over the years EPA has been tougher and tougher on waste disposal which runs some company's out of business. These guys have managed to stick around. http://www.justchromeit.com
Hmmm...I live in California, where environmental regulation is the order of the day -- and yet, I've had good luck and top quality rechroming of small (trim) and big (bumpers) done at a reasonable price???
Where in CA?
Because I'm ready to do some re-chrome work now
Ogden Chrome in Utah is great. A buddy sent chrome for a 1962 Imperial up there last year. Well over $30K worth of work, and it looked great!
It appears that a considerable amount of your items are pot metal or have pot metal components. Rechroming pot metal takes a lot of additional work since after removing the original chrome finish, the metal has to be repaired before rechroming. I don't think the charge was exorbitant. This is what an almost four month wait and $725 will get rechromed nowadays! Looks great, but I see why the patina look is now in vogue. Thank you EPA! I may haul a suitcase full of parts to Juarez the next time I need some chrome plating.
