Reckless driving charge

Bud, I was on 108 recently, going from Yosemite to San Jose. The Coronet went as fast as it could based on negotiating turns and other traffic. There was a green car behind me (driving the speed limit). I only slowed down if the Valentine 1 radar went nuts. Moral? Don't leave home without Mr. Valentine. He is an attentive fellow who has never let me down.

We all have a bit of those "youthful" tendencies left within or we wouldn't own these cars. It's very difficult not to push the pedal once in a while. Best to do in the safest place possible. Sounds like you got busted, you're paying the price and have owned up to the situation. We could all take a lesson from this post.

Just so you know, here in WA the cop doesn't have to show up anymore. The courts go by the notes the cop wrote. Per my previous rant, the dumbsh*t cop wrote so crappy that the judge said "I can't read this, case dismissed".

Just for clarification, cops in Washington do not have to show up for infractions (which would include speeding, blowing stop signs, negligent driving with no alcohol involved, etc.) but do still have to show up for criminal cases. Reckless driving is a criminal violation in Washington, which means the officer will be subpoenaed by the prosecutor, and the defendant will have the right to choose a bench trial or jury trial, if no plea agreements are reached in the mean time.

Regardless of whether what you did was right or wrong, I've got to say that I don't think it was anywhere near as dangerous as the everyday drivers I see on the interstate all the time.
Talking on the cell phone.
Bumper to bumper at 80 MPH with no where to go.
Tail gating.
Doing over 80 and in traffic and all the above in a 50 MPH zone.
Etc.
When the inevitable crash happens look at the inconvenience to so many people.
The trucks don't help they way some of them drive.
And then there are the Ninja Bikers that are going way north of 100 at least once a month by me.
It causes inconvenience to so many people when he inevitable happens everyday.

I just think if your interstates are anything like around here the police department's resources could have been spent better.

It's worse than that here. You can kill people in traffic being a fool or on the phone. All you have to do is wait for police and be sober. Any other kind of reckless, moronic or distracted driving is ok.
