Car is a 1964 Fury 4 dr with 318 poly. I have been trying for a while now to remove the bottom rows of bolts from the exhaust manifolds. Frustrating, especially to two forward bolts on each side. Just no room! I've tried getting a rachet down in there, end wrenches, tried from the bottom and top, from underneith and, well......

Is there some trick to this? Does the engine have to be raised a tad? Advice please. Thanks!

Try takin out the motor mount bolt one side at a time and jackin up the pan up.The engine will raise{twist} maybe giving you enough room to make a difference.Remember to use some wood between the jack & pan.

Seems like a weird thing to have to do (is that what the repair shops did?), but I'll give it a try. The bottom bolts behind the starter and on both sides near the mounts are the problem. Being a Fury you'd think there was a lot of room, but the poly is a wide motor so there really isn't much room! Thanks for the tip.
