In cutting front driver side pan out where are the spot welds located on the toe board and where should i make my cut at the toe board area? And other spot weld areas. Thanks b body soldiers.
They are pretty much the same 62-74. Besides the firewall seam the pan is also welded to the frame shields. About 6 welds just below the F/W seam. Towards the kick jam.
Where and how you cut it just depends on how you want to weld it back in. Myself I like plug welds instead of butt welds.
Once you remove the seam sealer you will see exactly where the seams are. If you buy a good (AMD) replacement panel, that will also show you where the seams are.
There is a flange down in the front which is spotwelded to the firewall flange. It site on top of the rocker box and is spotwelded down. You'll have to cut the trans tunnel if you're only doing a half pan and make your own seam. The rear of the pan will depend on which pan you buy.
