Want to replace the "stick" portion of a Hurst Comp + shifter with a shorter stick so that I don't have to move my hand 3 ft between shifts, anyone made this change and if so what was the replacement stick length and part # if you have it..........this is for a 66 Coronet with console 4 speed.

My favorite for a street car is the '69 bench seat shifter. They have nice ones on Ebay for around $100 now and again. They are round instead of square and use a fine thread shifter knob.

Thanks Jeremiah. No big preference for round or square, more interested in getting shorter stick that will still work with console.

If you want to try one (and pay shipping both ways) PM me. I have a somewhat rough, but usable unit you could row some gears with. Is you car console equipped?

Thanks for the offer, yes it is a console 4 speed, bucket seats. I broke some vertebrae in my back while on vacation in July (this old man was jumping waves in his boat, acting like a young man!!!), so I have a couple guys putting the rebuilt engine and QA1 front suspension in for me. The car is about an hour away and I miss her, so hoping to visit her within the next week. I am considering all options, including cut & weld (got that idea on another thread from this site last night). I will get back to you. Again, thanks again for offer. If you can, post a pic so I get an idea of the length and angles.

Back in the " Day " Hurst had pics and dimensions of all the bolt in handles in the back of the catalog. Now ya just need to find an old catalog.

Yea, "Back in the Day" I could probably just walk into a local speed shop, walk up to the counter, and walk out with a solution (for a lot less money). I went on the Hurst site, that was no help, and got brave and called, but that was useless. I didn't realize on this site you could enter key words and search for old threads, that is going to be a lifesaver going forward.
