I was planning on replacing the original fuel tank on the 70 roadrunner Im restoring. I pulled out the fuel sending unit and it was severely rusted and crusted over. I was already going to buy a new fuel pump and this mildly built 383 is going to have a holley 850 carb on an eldebrock performer intake.

The only thing I havent replaced is the fuel line from front to back, should I upgrade to a 3/8 from the 5/16 that is in the car now? Im sure this line is just as nasty inside as the fuel tank is.

Any benefits / drawbacks? Or just go back with all stock 5/16 as the good Lord built it?

thanks, short stack

No draw backs and it'll allow more engine mods later on. Mild 383 with a Performer intake and an 850? How bout using the Performer RPM instead. Much better intake and imo, the 850 is a bit big for a mild 383....

Thanks for the advice cranky - The carb and intake are what the customer had when he brought the car to me. Also - I have a freshly rebuilt engine, but no one seems to know what went into it, other than the engine rebuilder "kinda remembers" it, but of course no paperwork anywhere for anything...

Not an ideal situation for sure, but its what I have to work with.

Here is a pic of the filler neck and fuel sender. Customer cant quite understand why these need replaced.
