I've owned the car since 1986, and I'm finally going to replace the "Left-hand threaded" studs with Right-hand threads.

Does anyone know the correct size or part number I'll need for both the front and rear studs?

(This will save me from having to order after pressing them out to get the measurements, then having to wait for the parts to arrive.)

Thanks,
Jay

I used these on my rear wheels on my 1970 Sport Satellite. Same as yours. BUT I would find another higher quality brand if possible as I had to chase out every dam thread as they weren’t very crisp. I am not sure whats “better” as its all Chinesium anyway.....https://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-610-103

Awesome...thanks! Would you happen to know if they are also the correct size for the front?

We need more info, again. Factory 1970 Disc, conversion disc, or drum brakes? They use different studs.

Now you need more info. You cant just press out the front studs or you destroy the hub. You have to cut off the swedge first.

Not sure as I am running disk brakes in front but I would wager they are.
Do some digging as well as see if anyone replies here.

I have N.O.S. U.S.A. made LEFTIES and Righties Front & Rear Studs, Drum & Disc, if you would prefer....
On this site, they frown on putting phone numbers out here in the open (how dare I be up front and honest!!!)
P.M. me, if you want them.....
Yours, Craig...
P.S. Don't know what you are looking at --- but NO Front is the same as ANY rear...

Sorry.....didn't think to include that information.
It's a factory disc brake car, and they are stock rotors.

Make sure to PRESS the studs into the rotor. Many people try to just put a few large washer on and then a lug nut and then use an impact gun to pull them through. WRONG, WRONG. This will only stretch the studs and/or damage the lug nuts as well. As mentioned before the studs are "swaged" after inserted into the rotor and this "swage" must be removed before attempting to press the old studs out otherwise damage can occur to the hub/rotor holes.

Yes, have a press in the shop, will be doing this the correct way.

(By the way, noticed your SR-71. I used to work for Harvey Patrick....one of the hydraulic engineers on that Bird!)

So, does anyone know the size or part number of the ones I need for the front rotors?

Thanks!

Obviously, yes --
I indicated to you that I have them --
And my phone number is in your P.M. as per forum rules....

Sorry...after my last post last night, I searched the web, and found the NAPA part numbers for both front (641-1612) and rear (641-1610) studs. (NAPA calls them wheel bolts.) My local store had them in-stock, and I picked them up this morning.

I didn't receive a PM. If you sent one, I did not receive it. Weird how it shows that I have (8) messages, but there are only (2). Don't know what's up with that.

You, of course, won't be getting any LEFTIES from any parts store ---
And you won't be getting U.S.A. made from
napa "never American parts available"......

Petty, when I put Righties in my front hub on my 66 Coronet, I first put the front hub/brake drum in the press thinking I could just press them out. NOPE. The Fronts are "Swedged" on (as mentioned above). So, I bent the heck out of the front Brake Drum and accomplished Nothing with the studs. Soooo, I then fussed with it quit a bit and got some help on this forum.

In the end, I put the Hub/drum in the Drill Press. Drum down, Hub up to expose the heads of the old "Wheel Bolts". I drilled I think, was an eighth inch hole in the middle of the heads of the studs. Then I used a cutting tool that is just like what one uses to remove Spot Welds, only larger. It cut the outsides of the heads of the Studs being careful not to go too deep so that I would not scar the Hub. Then back to the Hyd Press and used proper shoring under each stud and pressed the studs out, Heads First (they make a big POP when they finally break loose). Then pressed the new studs in as you would imagine.

The Backs will press right out, at least mine did. Good luck. B.

Here is the tool I used to cut the tops of the studs after drilling an eighth inch hold was drilled in the middle of the heads.

Here are those Pesky Swedges right down by the Brake Drum.

Notice how I bent the Brake Drum already at this point. Good luck. B.

I never had an issue with using a BFH to drive them in or out and I’ve done it on street cars and roundly round cars without any issues. The trick in installing them is to make sure that the splines are aligned.
