Repop superbird wings....

I haven't bought a wing yet. I'd like to have Don's wing, it looks excellent. I have to stay under 3600 lbs to be in spec on the cert so I might have to use a fiberglass one. I bought the nose to start fitting everything on the car. I doubt I'll run turn signals in the standard location as those openings might be prime for turbo inlet ducting for the two Precision 76mm turbos!! I also have to package a big air to air intercooler and try to keep the car cool. Engine will be an all aluminum 540 hemi. Heads have been CNC'd, aluminum hemi block is going to be ordered next month, once I decide if it's going to be a tall deck or a low deck version. Should be a fun car, but I'm sure I'll be shunned from the purists wing car meets!

cool , i went the easy way my hood fenders nose and wing are off an original car . I got them cheap in the mid 90's after the t boned car was long crushed .

I wish I could say the same. This is not going to be inexpensive.

of course if you watch ebay you can usually grab a real one for $2500.00 and then you can do this .

I finally understand what all the fuss over Superbirds 'n Daytonas is about! :headbang:

Fenders are easy. Coronet! Takes about a hour a piece to modify with the scoop mounts drilled.

The hood.... Thank god I didn't have to tackle that one. If I was cloning, FG would have to do for me.

I bought fiberglass for the hood and fenders but I need to come up with the original sheet metal lower fender pieces so I can copy them in fiberglass!

if you are going to use a fiberglass wing buy janeks , his is hand down the best

but i have a buddy don in canada who can make you a steel one that is very good , while not the factory aluminum like it should be its a very good substitute

What is his price on one?

I seen where Dayclona did a 71-74 Charger and a 71-72 Road Runner. Were there ever any plans for a factory built wing car in 71-74?

Would a Superbird wing look out of place on a GTX clone? isnt it just a grill thats different between them? so the GTX could be a roadrunner with a grill change right?
dont hate on me please..LOL

As moparstuart said, it's your car...

But, asking if a superbird wing would look out of place on a GTX clone...well since a Superbird didn't have a grill, the wing would probably look out of place on a regular road runner anyway.

Besides the grill that the GTX used (the sport satellite used the honeycomb grill too) the GTX also had different tail light trim, there was chrome edges on the lights, and brightwork around the trunk edge trim. Also, most GTXs had some brightwork around the wheel well openings.

When you get down to it, there isn't a whole lot of difference between the two models.
