Anyone purchase and install the reproduction woodgrain wheels for 68-69 ?
By the time you spend $500 for a core, hunt down a nice horn pad and related collar and horn contacts
and then have it restored it by someone,....
I'm wondering if its a better choice to get the repro wheel.??
Any thoughts? anyone install one? How does it fit on the splines? comments ?
Thanks

only thing that I didn't like was when tightened down it left a bigger space between column hub and wheel

I've had one of each. The reproduction has shinier spokes than the restored original. I bought both cars done, so price wasn't a factor. Reproduction shown on the right. Dan is right about the column spacing.

The shine can be knocked down with a scotchbrite pad. I never paid attention to the gap. I will look in a bit at mine.

The shine is the wrong lol, but it can be addressed, depending on what the material is and any clear coat over top.

I would just embrace the shine of the repro’s spokes imo. I don’t know this for a fact but if they’re chrome cladded and then you start scuffing them to dull them a bit, you could perhaps peel the cladding off.
