Resto-mod a Road Runner

I used Classicdash.com 's kit with phantom II autometers in my Chevelle, really love how it came out but they fall under the "71-74 only" category.

This is a dash panel I built out of aluminum but I decided to place a vinyl carbon fiber overlay on it. Its for a rallye dash. Its not too difficult, just need a jig saw & a hole saw.View attachment 140252

I like that carbon fiber look, on yours... I was thinking about doing a wrap like that in black, but decided on the textured black paint instead, to look more period correct... I go back & forth thinking I should have done the carbon fiber look...

Budnicks your dash is awesome! It'll be cool to see it installed and lit up

Thanks someday it will be installed...LOL... I will be doing some rewiring under the dash, adding a new larger {12 fuse panel & relocating it} fuse box & maybe a new tilt column too, then I can also put my shifter on the floor, I still would like to find a nice 68-70 B-Body console, that isn't too damn much $$$, but still pretty nice too, that I can modify the top slightly for my Quicksilver shifter... I want to do them all at the same time... I don't have the tilt column or console yet, is the main reason really... Some extra car funds wouldn't hurt either, that's really why I have been procrastinating so much, the interior & dash will be last, after paint... I like/prefer to have "everything I need", before I tear into something, so the car won't be down for too long... It really bugs me not to be able to drive it, if it's tore apart for too long, or tear into the same area several times... There was a day/time, that I would have put it in no matter what, I don't do that anymore...

Just thought I'd throw this in, if going with all after market gauges Auto Meter has fuel gauges that work on the same ohms, meaning you can keep your original sending unit. I first bought a different set that required installing and adjusting a new float.

with the fuel gage you need to make sure it's a Ford or Chrysler type 73 Ohm empty/8-12 Ohms full, resistance gauge {if I remember correctly}or it will read backwards, full when it's empty & empty when it's full or not work at all... They usually specify if it's a For &/or Chrysler style gauge if not it's for a universal or GM style gauge... mine is a Autometer # 2515 Traditional Chrome Analog Gauge 2-1/16"
