For me it was an investment, an investment into my happiness. I get home from work in the summer and head to cruise in’s, or my son or daughter call and ask if we can go hunt Mustangs on Telegraph road, or the wife says let’s go out in it and make some noise tonight.
Like many of you I have been offered way more than I think it’s worth, but my happiness comes before money and I easily say thanks but not interested

As many of you know, I am a "drive them" type of guy.

Two weeks after it got a full restoration, I drove my 70 Road Runner across country (one way, 5,800 miles). Did it get a couple of rock chips and wear? Sure it did, but I wouldn't trade that trip for the world!
Besides other more "routine" driving, I have also driven it 2,200 miles for the 2023 Hot Rod Power Tour.

In 2022, I drove my 73 Road Runner across country - both ways. A total of just over 11,000 miles over two months for that trip.

It is nice to know that they are worth some money, but I have them because I love having them. My kids can choose to sell them if they want.

I do have an unrestored, NCRS Top Flight 1962 Corvette. It is very difficult to have a car so old that is unrestored AND be able to score a Top Flight rating, so it is very special car (it was previously my father-in-law's pride and joy). I do admit that car gets driven sparingly, maybe only a few hundred miles per year, but it DOES get driven. In September, I drove it in the rain so it could be at my daughter's wedding.

Well spoken. I chased my current GTX for five decades after test driving it when it was new. The first year I drove it to Carlisle after I finally bought it, I got a cash offer from a high roller. Nearly twice what I'd paid for the car the year before. I thought about it, but I couldn't think of anything I could spend the money on that would give me more satisfaction than that car did.

Owner before me drove the car 1000 miles in 28 years. I surpassed that in two. I stared at a photo of it for decades. After all that time looking at it, I'd rather drive it. The fact that the car was driven, not trailered, to Carlisle was a big factor behind the outrageous offer I received.
