Test: The first thing I tried fixing is one of my A/C vents. My picture didn't come out that great but, trust me
it looks better than new! :hello2:

Protesting!!! Re-shoot!

LOL! How's it going! Long time no see.

It's raining today but might retry tomorrow. It really came out nice! I'm doing pretty good this week, did you ever find yourself a left rear quarter?

No, never got a chance to get going on that. It's been a catch 22 with me followed by a mild dose of Muphy's law. I started in on the K-frame attaching screw issue where it doesn't tighten up. The K-frame was just shifting around creating problems with the steering and alignment. I'll snap a shot later and show you how it's getting done.

Nice work with the brush. Steady hands need only apply.

OK, Rumblefish360, and thanks.

Hopefully a better picture? See one is silver paint(before) and the other is chrome(after)!

I've never worked with this stuff but, kinda liking it!

yeah, I was going by the place and thought I'd look for some glue for my gold and silver foil? Found this stuff and thought I'd give it a try.

Ha ha ha oh man! The things discovered by a slight detour and happened a on by a hunch!
This is soooo excellent. I guess you know what I'll be doing on a rainy day soon. LOL!

Hey Magnum GT,

Been reading a lot of your comments and posts. Your magnum makes me want to get one. I've always liked the cordobas and chargers less popular but better looking sibling.

The vent chrome looks fantastic! What did you use? Silver leaf?

Thanks, this is the first time I've used it. I usually use gold and silver leaf.

Thanks for the heads up on that stuff. Going to have to see if I can find it on my next trip to the hobby store. What did you do to prep it before you painted? Clean, light sanding?

Long story short: First you need to carefully remove the vents by removing the dash pad. They are screwed into the back of the dash pad. Using a flat screwdriver through the front of the vent pop the bottom and top pivots and push back and they will come out.

The frame piece in the vent in the back will easily come out.

To remove the shutters simply pry one side in to get them out.

It will fall apart into separate pieces, Very important -now wash everything with soap & water.
0003.jpg

Note: You could try this with out taking the vent completely apart. It's very hard to get it back together if you've never done it before.

Let all the pieces dry, I scrape the old Chrome off with a sharp razerblade.

The razerblade leaves it smooth and clean.
0005.jpg

Size the piece on the Bare-Metal sheet and cut to size leaving a little over hang to make it easier to trim.
0006.jpg

For this small of a piece I separate the foil from the backing. It's like a very thin tin foil, so be careful not to let it curl up and stick to its self. Save your backing paper!
0007.jpg

Apply to the vent face using you finger lightly to rub into place.
0008.jpg

Once it is in place go back over it with your finger a bit harder to make sure its applied to the vent rim.
0009.jpg

I use the back of my fingernail in pushing and getting out wrinkles in the foil.

Make sure not to fold the foil over the sides, lightly pull the edges out to make it easier to trim.
0011.jpg

Use a fine point razerknife.
0012.jpg

Use the tip or smaller part of the knife to trim the inner corners.
0013.jpg

For the sides cut/trim in a downward motion, so as not to pull up the foil.
0014.jpg

Once you've cut the inside foil out save it for future projects.
0015.jpg

Now you know why I said to save the backing paper, re-apply it to the paper.
0016.jpg

Trim the out side edge the same way, this time you don't need to cut in one piece.
0017.jpg

You may have some foil on the sides, not a problem!
0018.jpg

Take your knife and cut or you can lightly scrape the access off.
0019.jpg

At this point, take a cloth or in my case my shirt and rub/polish the foil to get the chrome look!
