Got a lot done on my 69 charger with the help of all of you. having a issue now that when I start the car the reverse lights stay could it be the neutral safety switch ??

Yes, now unplug the NS switch and see what the light do.

When I took the plug off the lights are gone but did notice a spark from the plug to switch prongs

Sparks are just due the current going throught and suddenly going in or out. It seems your NSS could be damaged. Assuming of course the roostercomb nylon skate into the transmission is good.

The roostercomb skate is what pushes in and out the switch to activate or not the reverse lights ( along also with provide the ground to the starter relay at P and N points )

Transmission was just rebuilt so I guess I’ll try replacing the NSS

I replaced it like a year ago kinda strange it would go bad so quickly

Did they rebuild your original or swap for something else. There are 2 different rooster combs.

Or did the plastic piece got broken or removed.

the photo is what yours should look like. 1968 and older was metal only with 2 rounded nubs to hit the switch.

Also if the trans case gets rolled on it’s side it bends the tangs on the 3 prong switch so you could have a used replacement switch from the shop.

They rebuilt mine but the transmission is like a 67 not original to the car it use to work fine when I got it back but now the light stays on I ordered a new NSS will be in Monday

Replaced the NSS today and now no reverse lights are on even when in reverse nothing my transmission is from a 67-68 BC body I checked with the parts guy he said it uses the same switch I thought maybe the earlier years used a different one any ideas unless it’s something inside the transmission
