The car is a 72 Satellite with an early 80s 360. Want to go back to the cars points system so I went to the store and ordered for the car original 318. Came out with the following as it was all they had:
Autoline D63 distributor
Standard RU4T ballast resistor
Standard UC12T coil.

I also have another coil and ballast I picked up awhile ago, I believe it was an E30P coil and ICR11 ballast. Service manual says 0.5-0.6 ohms for points systems but the only ones I can seem to find are testing out at around 1.3-1.5 ohms. Would this all work with the points distributor? What would be the results of running a stronger ballast in a points car? My thoughts are saying weaker spark when running but longer points life. Not looking to convert to electronic ignition as the car already has an older aftermarket system on it that is a nightmare.

Any advice would appreciated.

Thanks.

My 2 cents. I run a 1.5 ohm coil with points on my old bomb without any problem. Can't tell you anything about a stronger ballast. Mine is vintage 1963.

Glad to see another points car.
The more resistance less voltage so.5/.6 ohm is right that drops coil to8v running. Less v not to sure
