I am looking to move after the 1st of the year from Maryland into Va. as a relocation to my existing job.
I am in outside sales for Cooling Tower Repair and Heat Exchanger Service. Main office is to be in Ashland VA. We are looking to rent for 6-months to a year so we will have time to look for a single family home (with a garage of course). All my garage stuff will need to go into storage until then.
Please give me a heads up if you know of any good areas to start looking for a house. We have 2 small dogs, no cats and it will be my wife and I.

Thanks in advance for any insight you all can give.

Ashland is ok, not much there... although there is a really nice gun store ! Used to go to Chrysler training school out there.... I would assume cost of living is somewhat cheap ....

I live in Mechanicsville and its not bad over here been here since 1997. I'm selling my house this year and moving a little further east of Richmond.

Ok, yea. Not looking to reside in Ashland. I dont really want to be that close. an hr commute if I need to go into the office would be enough. I dont really need to go into the office since I am on the road looking at Cooling Towers. Yea, I figured the COL is lower than MD 4sure. Looking forward to the change really. Of course, my family is here, but Im only 4 hrs South, no big distance really. My son looks to go to NC when he gets out of Apprentice school. He's in the Electrical trade. Is working Residential rite now. Thanks for the info 65-440

Yea, I have been looking i that area too. Don't need or want to be too close to the City Limits. I will be in there for work mostly and all the southern portion of the state as well. But want to be centrally located south and east if possible. Will see, I just want to know the areas that are not high in crime.

thanks 69DSbee

Live in Hanover County the sheriff department does a good job. I called them for suspicious person in the neighborhood and the y we here in less than 5 minutes. Its a good area. Just growing quick.
