Don't know any Molly Hatchet but I was a little concerned with my rigging with the horses. Although they are "cheap assed saw horses" they were rated at 1000 lbs each when new. They appear to be over taxed but in reality an empty E body front end with nothing but the hood and fenders weighs in at less than 1000# at the point where the horses are located. That equates to less than 500# on each horse.
I agree that it would not be in the be safe to depend on them for any kind of duration or working under the car but it seemed safe enough for me to roll the cart under before re rigging my Cherry picker. I think the guy driving your avitar was flirting with disaster more than I was.
I hear ya, man, and it didn't fall so that's a good thing. But those load ratings assume equal and balanced loads on all 4 legs and that the load be applied VERTICALLY AND DOWNWARD. That setup loads only 2 legs and it loads the lower portions of the legs with a MAJOR shear force, which they weren't designed for. Like runner68 said above, they could easily buckle or be pushed over or made to slide out of the way by that lateral load (or IMO, more likely have one occur and start the others into motion.)
Listen, this forum is full of experts of all types. I'm not a car expert, but I am an expert in these matters. Not getting arrogant, just saying my background - I have 2 engineering degrees, was a construction / civil engineer for 12 years (also served as rigging and excavating safety officer) and I currently teach physics for a living. Please don't do that again.
