Girlfriend and I are planning a road trip down to Florida for the first weekend of September. I'm just wondering if any of you guys could suggest cool places to stop at on the way down. We're coming from Ontario and crossing through Niagara.

Looks like we have 3 solid routes to choose from. Which one would you guys suggest and is there any worthwhile stops on the way? Anything car related, sight seeing, old architecture, etc.

You could go to Florida on say the shortest route, and come back on the longest, or vice versa. How much time do you have.

I was thinking about that. We have about 10 days. We'll be stopping for sightseeing and food. No hotels except for in Orlando for 1 or 2 nights. I can survive off 3 hours of sleep a day so I'll just pull into a walmart each night to grab some z's and hit the road again. I'm the only one who will be driving as well.

It's definitely going to be interesting. I'll be driving an '86 Cutlass Supreme with an auto 305 from what it looks like. Bringing the go pro and dslr along to capture the memorable moments.

I would suggest taking I-95 to Jacksonville, then take 9A to Butler Blvd, then Butler Blvd to US RT A1A. It's the old coastal highway for Florida and runs all along the coast. It's an awesome drive down through St. Augustine and take it to Daytona Beach. There's nothing like a trip down A1A in Daytona Beach during Spring Break... although your girlfriend might not like it as much. ;)

Once you're in Daytona you can take I-92 from A1A, which takes you right past the Daytona International Speedway, which is great to get pictures at. And Hooters of Daytona is right across from the racetrack and worth a stop... although again, your girlfriend won't like it as much as you do. Then you can pick up US 4 to go to Orlando.

Thanks Zilla! I for sure want to stop by some racetracks along the way, and any places with good views will be a great addition. I just talked to one of my childhood friends who lives in North Carolina now, he offered us to stay a night. He's pretty redneck so I'm sure it'll be a new experience for Mrs. and I.

Are you getting or got married too ??, you said "girlfriend" in the original post... I say "you don't take sand to the beach"...LOL... if you get my drift...

Never been on it, but I hear that the Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice drive.

It is a real nice drive if you are not in a hurry. It has a low speed limit which is enforced! It is a very winding road and you can't drive fast at all. I presume you are a car person so you must see RK motors in Charlotte. You can spend a hole day there.

I just said Mrs. Because it's shorter to type haha, but there is a possibility of it in the near future ;)

Low speed limits are not for me, but I will look into it! And thanks fj6, I'll check out rk motors.
