I was just looking at the rocker arms on my 383, one side has equal clearance but the other side looks like it ovaled out and is showing over an 1/8"...ya think that may have been the tick I was hearing frm that side before I tore the engine down?????
Anyone have 8 good rockers for a BB?????

Pics? Stock rockers tend to have a lot of clearance on the top side.....what's important is if the bottom, which rides on the shaft, is good.

First two photos are the worn ones and the second two are the ones that appear equal. They look a lot worse in person and yes, they are dirty.:violent-smiley-100: The worn ones are almost able to slide over the retaining keepers on the shafts.

Like Cranky said, the top doesn't matter because it normally doesn't touch anything - it's just stamping irregularity. However, if you have a few showing a lot of gap compared to the others then it's possible the business end (area in contact with the shaft) is very worn. If you are able to slide it off the valve easily when the lobe is at the base circle that may be another indicator that something is badly worn. Personally I would dump those and get a set of iron adjustables from Isky or Crane. Hard to beat those in the bang for the buck dept.

From what I can see, the heads look relatively nice but the rockers look pretty old....is that the case? Push rods and rockers are a wear item and if you just rebuilt the engine or did a top end job to it, the rockers and push rods probably need replacing too and especially so if they have a lot of miles on them.

And looks like you're running some nice retainers and heavier than stock springs too. The springs probably helped do the already worn rockers and shafts in.

The heads are fresh 915's with new springs, retainers and locks and have never been run. Push rods are stock and in nice condition, springs are good for .540 lift. This is a low buck build so if anyone has 8 stock rockers for a reasonable price please let me know.

Anyone have a good set of 8 rockers???

I have a handful of big blocks kicking around, and I'm south of Buffalo so if you want to come pick a set of rockers just let me know!

you can buy them locally (auto zone, etc) and save on shipping. they will probably have to order them.

One of our club members has a set of HP Mopar rockers that I can get from him.

Thanks!
