rockers

1.7? Maybe you mean 1.6? I have never seen 1.7 ratio advertized for a MoPar - not to say they don't exist. Too many questions need answered to comment. My thought is you'd be better off spending the money elsewhere.

Might even break stuff. Your valve springs my not be rated for the additional lift generated by a 1.6 rocker. A 1.7 would even be worse.

What are the specs on your engine as of right now?

Yeah, stock rockers are 1.5 but what is the rest of the combination? Is the motor completely stock or does it have any modifications? Are the valve springs stock original or have they been replaced. This is like describing your girl friend (or boy friend). Just saying he or she has long hair doesn't say much....

Sorry , It a stock 78 motor with a 310 dur 510 lift at 110 center with a 671 with 2 750damons at 5 psi

Going to a 1.6 rocker will put your lift around .544 so do you know if you have enough piston to valve clearance for that or if your springs will handle that and without coil bind?

Go with the 1.8's. You won't be disappointed!!!
Hey now, I'm not stupid I know that b and rb motors have a 1.5 rockers and if you switch to a 1.6 you will gain 30 to 40 more lift, also know that the springs have to be change for the higher lift and have to check for valve clearences. And just because YOU never heard of 1.7 rockers it does not mean they don't exist unlike your 1.8.

1.7 rockers do exist for the Mopar B/RB engines but I would not recommend them for a street type engine. I'm running 1.6 CAT rollers and a Comp XE275HL-10 cam (231/237 @ 110 c/l & .525" lift) in my 383 and they have been good to me so far. With the 1.6 ratio I'm getting .560" lift on the valve and really moving them due to the "fast ramp" design of the Comp lobes. In order to run this combo the valve guides had to be cut down and teflon valve seals installed. I used the recommended Comp dual springs and have had zero issues.
1.7 is a bit too steep for all but an all-out race engine. The strain on the valve train with that much ratio is a bit excessive for a street engine. While it may make more power (just a bit) your valve train durability will be compromised excessively. Max ratio I have heard recommended for street Mopar big blocks is 1.6 and that's what I decided to go with. So far I've been happy with the results.
