Rolling mouse/rat trap or the traditional spring loaded ones?

Get a good cat/mouser

I did ever means of mouse traps & bait
still had them when I was down in Rancho Murieta
the new construction there was making them wonder, move about

a good mouser cat is great

the lil' green bait (Decon ?), I don't exactly remember the brand for sure
used in the black triangular traps (Decon ? brand)
(put a brick or something on top so they can't move it)
it works too
even if they get out,
when they drink water it bloats them & kills them post haste

we have a crapload of cats around here,
I don't have an issue here now, did for a couple years
I put a lil' dry food out for them (the cats) every so often so they visit regularly
the cats are 2 of my neighbors, anywhere 2-5 cats across the street,
are pure lil' killers
I watch them stalk stuff out back or in the easement beside me...
One lil' spotted grey & black female (fixed) is a deadly lil' cat,
she's a pure killer
she's been getting all kinds of rodents, baby turkey, quail, mice, rats & even squirrels too
they drop them off at the door sometimes, I think it's to "say thanks" like a gift to me
show them to me

the cats don't last long here either, unless pretty wise
or if the coyotes, bobcats, racoons, mountain lions, hawks
or owls especially get them,
just end up being a turd
every year a couple get killed, breaks the kids hearts

this is off my back deck, critters galore, coyotes about 5 months a year too
they eat a lot of rodents too, or stray cats

Down side to an outside cat is that they kill damn near everything that they can get their paws on and I'm not up for that.

Best mouse trap ever made... cheap OJ bottle, some wire and a board. Don't forget the Peanut Butter !

Here's mine.....do ya really need a ramp? Just baited it a bit ago but I'm still in the shop. Have about 7" of water in the bucket.

I go oldskool spring trap for a quick clean kill. I need em dead but I don’t like needless suffering. I’ve had luck with them set up with a little peanut butter.

That said since I’ve been some kind of cat savior it’s not really an issue now, the other day one of them left the biggest rat I’ve ever seen in my life in the driveway under the Coronet.
Yeah, I like the quick and clean too. The first one that I caught would have gotten away had he not tried to get out of my live tender trap. I set the trap up one evening and came back out to the shop 30 minutes later and there he was, half stuck so I took a 12" long 5/8ths" dia drift pin and beaned him on the head. The 2nd one got out clean on the next night. My old trap is made with 1" hardware cloth. I figured that they would do that but wanted to be sure what was getting in here so I set it up. I'm seeing evidence (rat poo) that they've been in/on 3 vehicles and haven't checked the 4th one yet. So far haven't seen any electrical damage and hope I don't.

If they have 4 legs, and the other things can fly, then good on 'em!

The ramp is there to help things along. I put a few splotches of PB on it to help

Well, there are some cats that know how to stalk and some birds get used to the ones that don't but then there's the mocking bird that likes to pick on cats (and other things). I watched this mocking bird harass a cat some years back and the cat was just laying on it's side and had his tail going pretty good. Usually a wagging tail means the cat is pissed, right? After several dives at the cat, the cat reached up and snagged that bird out of the air on the 4th or 5th dive lol. Made me think the cat won that battle...

No rats trapped last night. Hope that means they beez gone but I'm going to keep it baited and maybe move it to another area of the shop. I'm going to vacuum up the rat poop and see if anymore of that shows up too.

Once the peanut butter in the plastic jar is used up, I do not clean it out, take a sticky trap and put it inside, place it wherever you need it.
The sticky trap needs to be bent just slightly to get it in the jar. Once in, whatever it catches cannot walk off with the trap.

Can catch multiple mice with the same trap, or remove sticky from jar and put in a new one.
I have saved many jars, so I just toss and set another one.

I keep one in each car.
If there is not a rubber mat, put something under it to avoid a possible mess.

I used the radio method in a garage after the bucket trap failed to get even one mouse. Leave a radio playing 24/7 in the garage and the mice think a person is present so they don’t even come in.

Just park any classic Mopar out there and all the mice and rats will be contained in one place, in the car!

It depends on how hungry they are. After an earthquake in the 90s left the apartment building next door abandoned, rodents went crazy breeding in it for about a year, then they tore it down and they invaded the surrounding houses. I could be up and about with the tv playing and they would run thru the house 10 feet away from me looking for food. It was a huge mess.
