Rotted out under my accel pedal and would like some input.

I was trying to come up with a super hero themed name and Cap'n Rust came to mind. Detmat could fill those shoes as well. You will have to supply your own cape and a mask.

LOL...Will do Padre.

Just to keep you guys in the loop if any of you care....On a hunch I REALLY dug into the floor pan with my wirewheel and uncovered more pinholes. Once I put a light under the car they really became obvious- I could cover it with RB but I'm already in for a penny so in for the pound I go.

I've ordered up a replacment pan and am going to just cut out the bad and then butt weld back in a new section of the pan. I have the car up on jack stands which actually works out on two fronts: 1.) The floor pan repair and 2.) the new clutch I need to install.

I'm taking pictures of some of the work which I'll post as I go along. In the meantime here is a pix of the section of pan I'll be replacing. Floor pan.jpg

At least on a bright note: I drilled and installed zerk fittings on my wiper pivots so they are all greased up now. My bench seat is back from having new springs installed and my tax return came in which is a good thing 'cause now I can afford everything I'm doing.

Be careful when doing floor work while the car is jacked up.
Once you cut the old stuff out, the body can twist. I would suggest
Putting the car back on its wheels before replacing the pan.

Of course, you can have the car 'on it's wheels' and still have some room underneath. Put the front wheels on a set of ramps, and put jack stands under the rear axle so the car sits level.

Funship32, we do care! Keep us informed as you go along. :)
