When warmed up and idling in park/neutral, i need to set the idle speed to about 1800 rpm, this will net an rpm of about 1000rpm at idle in gear. Is this normal? Motor is a 512, 10.5:1 compression, solid flat tappet cam 600/600. dual eddy 1407's on a crossram. tci trans with a 3500 stall.

Seems pretty high to me. No vacuum leaks? Maybe too lean of an idle mixture?

My bet is the convertor is to tight. My racecar uses 1407s with near stock calibration. Cam is [email protected]”. Only drops around 350 rpm. Try more base timing. You may have to reduce your mechanical advance to get everything higher you want it.

Too high and you’ll be out of your idle circuit too.. try the timing, fine tuning is fun! That’s why I think a lot of folks go fuel injection.. I enjoy the challenge!
