Rules of working on cars

If it don't fit force it, if it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Never make a commitment to help a friend with his car project unless YOU intend to do all of it.
Never make a commitment to help a friend with his car project unless you closely inspect the car to see ALL the work it needs.
Never make a commitment to help a friend with his car project.

Never ever work on a family members car......EVER !

Yesterday I set down a black magic marker on the top cross bar forward of the radiator. Three minutes later I could not find the dang thing. I had put in place the header panel I was working on and it was underneath. I cursed and tore stuff up, and threw things, and kicked stuff. Finally found it. Quit for the day. Took a shot of Beam and a nap. good thing, or some blood would have been spilled....

When replacing body panels...........measure 267 times.........once more......then cut.

If you think you have installed and removed the part too many times, be prepared, there will be more!

Be cautious selling off spare parts............there aren't very many you won't wish you had in the future.

Never take anybody else's word, "Ya, it's good to go.", unless you are willing to accept full responsibility yourself for the results.

Thinking to yourself.." I don't need to find my safety glasses to grind this small area off. I wont get anything in my eyes...." Bad idea fairy at work...

When you run out of swear words its time for a break, when you run out of beer it's time to quit.

Experience = something you get just after you need it...

If the part went in too easily the first time, it will be coming out again.

The project will ALWAYS cost more than you estimate or think it will!!
The project will ALWAYS take a LOT more time than you estimate or think it will!
There is NO SUCH THING as "bolt on" in the aftermarket world!
There is NO SUCH THING that will "just take a minute"!
EVERYBODY has a better idea!

No matter how many hours you have spent under the car non-stop, in 90 degree, humid, mosquito filled garage putting in a set of headers that just wouldn't fit so you had to hoist the engine out and jiggle the transmission so you could squeeze the starter back into place with your nose and keep that top bolt from falling out for the seven-hundredth time while you get that driver side header in --- Your wife comes out only the moment you crack that first victory beer."
