Running out of gas

Getting old is a blessing - there are many who haven't been fortunate enough to get old.

Having said that, living with constant, debilitating pain is no fun. I assume you are having nerve pain, but regardless, do some research and get some help from some doctors. They have some amazing procedures nowadays that can really help.

Good luck and hang in there!
Thanks!
Been to many docs for this. Most just
prescribed pain killers which my mental
state can't handle well, and steroid shots
have little to no effect. I try to stay active
but even just a short walk sometimes
agrivates the condition.

I also have some chronic aches and pains - although nothing like yours! I recently started going to a massage therapist that specializes in Myofascial release. I have been very pleased with the results. You may want to check this out. It probably won't fix things 100% for you, but it may help to "take the edge off."

I hear the pain from here 1STMP. I ache every day and thanks to a building that fell on me when I was 18 I go paralyzed from the waist down from time to time and fall on the floor without notice. My hands barely work after millions of rivet installations, building airplanes, but I just trudge through it. When I'm feeling like I'm done, I watch an inspirational video or 10 of my daughters until I stop feeling sorry for myself, to remind myself that at least I'm on the right side of the grass...

DadsBee,
Sounds like you're pretty tough and stubborn
like I like to think as myself. No fun when a
building falls on you. You're an inspiration.
At 17, I hit a tree on a snowmobile at 70 mph.
Paralyzed brachial plexus. Overcompensation
has trashed the lower discs in my back which
lead to severe sciatica.

Arthritis here too along with a good bit of that in my back and picking up anything that's around 25-30 lbs can make my back hurt for several days especially if not picked up just right. Also dizziness when I go from standing to getting on a creeper. Got to wait a bit for my head to quit spinning and the the same thing happens when I get up off of the creeper. Odd that I can lay down in bed and get up just fine. I guess that extra couple of feet makes a difference. Been dealing with the dizziness for about 20 years now....and yup, getting old isn't for pansies.
Thanks, Cranky.
I appreciate all inputs here. Trying to stay
positive. Maybe it's the cold weather?
I'm so close to finishing my truck and it's
making me cranky that I can't work on it.

Look into QC Kinetix maybe they can help.
I Googled to see if they are in Arizona and yes..I have horrible shoulder pain. And I'm going. I'm trying to avoid surgery .
Thanks.
Never heard of this, but will check it out.
The nerve damage I have is inoperable.

I know it doesn't make it any easier but a wise man recently told me "You don't lose until you quit trying"..
FWIW sciatica sucks..

There's no quit in me, which has lead to
my current conditions. I never quit anything
except smoking.....

I can almost guarantee parts and materials
would be less than 19K....

Seems like a pretty safe bet... Don't get me wrong, they've done a great job, it seems like a well engineered well finished piece... But they aren't marketing it for their health..

dont worry, the chinese will steal the design and theyll be selling a clone of that lift for a grand next year

imp,i know how you feel.
my only suggestion is the one you dont want,
medicinal pot,or edibles,or even vape pens, altho you Really want to be careful w those.
i thank God every morning, and night, just for another day.
best wishes to you.

I don’t have any answers but understand your predicament.
I was critically injured in a plane crash 30 years ago and broke more bones in my lower body than I didn’t.
I’ve played through pain and some degree of disability ever since and done well, but as years go by it’s getting tougher.
I can’t recall exactly when it was I found it hard to get off the floor, but have found I need to plan ahead, setting a chair or milk crate near where I’ll be working so I can use it to get up when I’m done!
I always tell myself what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger. Seemed to work, but I’m starting to wonder if that rule fades as I get older?

I've had 4 to 7 migraine days per week for the past 30 years and worked all but the last 4 years. Doctors have no idea what causes them and they're incurable. How do I bare it? I trust God and His promises of a wonderful eternity when I lay down my mortality and all its shortcomings. This life is but a blip on the radar of eternity. I look to God and eternal life where there's no pain, suffering or sadness.

Put your faith in Jesus who is no stranger to our suffering.

Follow the link for a brief article by Pastor Alistair Begg who says what I'm trying to say much more precisely.

It's a great idea come to life. I'm sure it took
a few engineering hours. There's sure to be
some copy cats which will inevitably bring
the price down. You can pretty much
count on a cheaper model from China.
Good ideas don't stay proprietary for long.

I've spent pretty much my entire adult life
designing mechanical systems, parts, welded
assemblies, for mostly heavy truck and bus.
Everything from suspensions, power train,
steering, fuel, heating systems, and
sheetmetal. More than 150,000 hours
on various CAD systems over 46 years.
I'm getting old. It's become a major effort
just getting up from a creeper. What
magnifies this, is I broke my neck at 17
and am paralyzed on my left side.
Over compensation for this malady has
created other problems on my right side,
and arthritis is rearing it's ugly head.
I've literally spent three days on the couch
(passing in a bottle) because I can't walk.
The pain becomes unbearable to the point
of tears. Short of being doped up, I put up
with the pain, and wait for it to subside.
I'm not after pity, but encouragement.
Are any members here going thru similar
circumstance, and how do you deal with it?
I really do want to finish my grand finalie.
My medical adventures don't compare to yours mate....I just hope that when the weather warms up some, the pain will ease for you. I do know from experience that frozen or damaged joints are affected by the cold weather.
Stay safe, and I wish you all the best of luck.

Thanks Kiwi.
I've been thinking about getting a kerosene
heater for the garage. That may help ease the
mobility some.
