Does any one know if a 78 440/727 in an RV had a higher designed stall than a pass car application? Posting my RV trans to Craigslist and trying to decide if I should hold onto the convertor.

If it is a 12 inch converter, narrow ring gear, it will be a very low stall, if it is an 11 inch converter with wide ring gear it will still be a low stall but probably in the vicinity of 1600-1800 depending on the application. It will be weighted for a cast crank engine so be careful what you might swap that into.

Considering my motorhome weighs over 10000 lbs. sometimes 2400 rpm will not move it. And I do not have my foot on the brakes eathier but not many car weigh that.

For sure. That's exactly why I wondered if they were a higher stall, since you would need to get up in rpm a bit to move the big thing. But I suppose Chrysler could just count on the stall being higher on a stock convertor simply by virtue of the large mass it is moving.

That is correct, the more weight the higher the stall speed to move it

First measure the diameter. If I remember correctly the hi stall units were about 10 3/4". I would bet it is not a hi stall unit. The factory hi stall units can be bought cheap enough I would just keep yours for a core if nothing else when you buy a new hi stall converter.
