Anyone care to share their actual numbers and describe the build?

If this needs to be in the racers area, that's fine.

I'm interested in machine work and parts selection to see what happens with different combinations.

I've been reading about gross vs net vs RWHP and about static and dynamic compression and educating myself on the new (to me) cam spec figures.

My goal is to put a stock looking B block in my 66 Coronet that burns pump gas (preferably 89) gets decent average MPG (15 is a good starting point) is streetable (I know, very subjective), and turns 13's or 12's if I'm lucky in the 1/4 mile.

From past experince I already know that a 284/484 cam is NOT too much for a 9.5:1 383 with a stock converter and average octane of 91. Maybe it could have been better, but it ran great.

I'm also looking at Carolina Machine "crate" rebuilds. They list what I believe are gross HP numbers for 3 383 combos and 2 400/512 strokers. Anyone know what cam grinds they use? their prices are also attractive but may be less so after shipping.

Additionally, I'm intested in 400 or non overbore 400 stroker numbers. I think the CID for that is 444.

I'm also considering stock HP manifolds with a TTI X pipe.

I know it's all relative and the main issue is the relationship between fuel CFM, cam spec, compression, and exhaust, with a little converter thrown in.

Here is what I now about mine.

69 383 block stock bore and compression
Stock heads
MOPAR P4286677 231/231 Duration @ 0.050" 0.455/0.455" LIFT
Edelbroch Performer 383 Intake Manifold
Edelbrock Thunder AVS 650 Carb (1408)
HP Exhaust manifolds
2 1/2 inch exhaust with X-pipe

Dyno came out at 240 RWHP and 330lb-ft torque

I have a tremec tko-500 5-speed with a .68 over drive
Rear end is a 3.55 Sure Grip

On 87 pump gas I get 18 mpg and 15 mpg pulling my trailier that weighs about 800 lbs with my crap in it.

Not much to go on but can give you an idea what a cam, intake and carb will do to a failry stock motor.

I'm sure some edlebrock heads and headers would do wonders for it.

I have no idea what she would do in the qtr

Great response.

That's eaxactly the kind of info I'm looking for.

Please keep them coming.

Sorry, I meant to post this in "Engine, Trans & Driveline".

Hey Admin...can you move this to the engine and driveline section?

Might get better response over there.

I now see there a a couple of similar ones over there but this one's a bit more specific IMO.

Thanks.

Thanks!
