My buddy doesnt want to buy the car for any profit or flip. It isnt about what its monetary value is. He wants to save the old mopar and has the funds to do so.

The car belongs to the owner. Fortunately, he can do whatever he wishes with it. It is his. Thankfully, there is no law that says "if a car has sat idle for a year or more, the owner MUST sell or give it to someone who will do something with it." You know, restore it and park it away so no one can see or enjoy it. Hmmm, sounds kinda like the PRESENT owner, eh?

There a a LOT of other cars out there to build and restore. Getting fixated on one specific car, just because it "needs to be rescued", is wasted time and effort.

Yup, familiar story, when I was a rural mail carrier in SC there was a lady who lived in a run down property with two Chargers under tarps in the back fenced in yard. A 68/ and a 69. She had a 4ft x 6ft plywood sign leaned up against the fence that said " NOT FOR SALE, EVER", I asked one sunny day what was up with that? She busted out crying and said between hiccups that her son had bought them just before going to Vietnam and he died there. She has no other kids and her husband left her. She just goes out and sits in them sometimes and remembers her boy. Very sad, but, it's her reality. I thought about telling her that her son might have wanted somebody to finish what he started but I just couldn't do it to her. They had not one scratch on them that I could see on the days the wind had blown the tarps off.

It is one conclusion that could be drawn.
But it might be cruel
In the grand scheme, both are temporary.


A very long time ago I was in high school and the apartments where I lived had a black wing car just sitting by the pool. So it would have been about 4 years old.
The story was that the apartment manager's son had died in Nam. I've often wondered what happened to the derelict car.

for years in mass when growing up,we used to ride on the bus past this guys house who had 2 chargers,a 70 n 69.
the 70 was white and i Wanted that car so bad.
when i finally got back from the army,the First thing i did was go to his house.
the white one was still there!
i went to the door,guy was nice,willing to sell,hadnt ever touched them.
we walked out there,and discovered the car had rotted in Half while sitting there all those years....Heartbreaking.

i also found a mod top cuda in myrtle beach,same deal.
kept trying to locate owner.
finally got the owner,went to it,rotted.

The vinyl top on this car was installed at the dealer after the car was bought. The trim tag does not call out for it.
