My wife is plannig a trip for a trade show (she makes one of a kind polymer dolls) to the Charlotte (Denver) area in October.
I've heard lots of solid old cars are in the Carolinas.
Anyone know any good yards in that area?

Thanks.

Don't know about western Carolina YY1 (lived in Goldsboro SE NC), but if you get a chance to head east from there, I had a favorite yard in Kinston (on old pink hill road) lotta old stuff.

Another place that sold cool project cars located in Wilson, NC. Kind of a wholesale place. Last time I swung in there they had 68 GTX for $1200. I apologize, but I forgot the name....

There was also a fairly small yard right off HWY 70 south of smithfield on the north side of the road. Kind of slit up in to two yards.

I'm not aware of anything right around Charlotte. My nephew runs a restoration shop in Denver area. If you do head east you'll want to stop at Peedin's in Selma, NC. Largest collection of salvage Mopars I've ever seen. A bit to the south and less to the east of Charlotte is a small town of Ruby, SC - there is another all mopar yard with maybe 100 or so cars. If you come over to Ruby you might as well come here to Rockingham. A friend here in town has about 45 Mopars in salvage. If you wanted to make a large circle you could head to Ruby, SC, then to Rockingham, on to Selma and on the return trip there is a place up around Asheboro that has some Mopars too (never been there but did talk on the phone).

Thanks guys. Looks like Selma might be a bit too far, but Ruby and Rockingham might be doable.

Got any names?

Well, believe it or not, this trip is back on...after a brief intermission.

But it's to Asheville instead.

So, the original question is now modified.

Any good junk yards with old cars near Asheville NC?
