Scam alert

I was ripped off $88.00 from a vendor on this site and every time I get a email special offer from them I cringe...Marla

Someone used my FedEx account number and shipped $2,000.00 worth of envelopes to 100 people in the mid-west and west coast. I called FedEx to cancel the account and to report the fraudulent use of it. I am not sure what this guy was shipping to all these people (scam letters, drugs) but my companys name was on the box along. I had my secretary write a letter to all the recipients explaining the situation. They came in all sizes and use anyone to hide their true identity and purpose.

same guy contacted me twice saying he had a part I was looking for. Even after I told him no thanks I have found the part, he emailed 2 more times dropping his price. What made me suspicious the most tho was that he had no posts on here and had just joined that month. A sure red flag in my book.

I got an e-mail a couple days ago from some company called retro-motive auto supply that said i was going to get a package delivered to me in 1-3 days. Only one little flaw...............I didn't order anything from them.If it comes C.O.D. i'll refuse it.

iv never tried paypal, but im gonna make one now after seeing a few ppl get scammed lately .. there's many parts i wanna buy, but worry i might get scammed so i don't buy it unless its local...buyers protection would be awesome and make it a lot easier and safer and give me more options..is there a fee or anything for paypal?
The fee paid is by the one receiving money, not the sender.

I sell a lot on eBay and and there are fees for the seller on it an Paypal. It is marginal and a certain percentage, but it protects the buyer. A buyer can change his mind and has 45 days through Paypal to rescind the transaction and return the product. The seller is stuck with the fees.

I was scammed for $200 by a member, Jwvr. His e-mail address is [email protected]. He responded to my post that I was looking for a 66 satellite bumper. I made the mistake of sending him money thru moneygram. I found thru an internet search that a Jwvr with the same e-mail has attempted the same scam on other forums. There's not much I can do except warn other members about this guy.

Sorry to hear that, but you do have a "few" options. If you sent it by the United States Postal Service it is "mail fraud" which is a felony. Internet fraud is also a felony. I had a similar situation with a rear end housing/axles I bought from some douchebag in West Virginia. I contacted the FBI (online), the local police in his town (phone call + e-mail), the local cops in Chicago and the state trooper's closest to his house in West Virginia. Nobody really seemed to care enough to do anything.... except a state trooper from West Virginia called me about 2 weeks later. It seems like this wasn't this douchebag's first run in with the law, this trooper knew him and my complaint gave the trooper a reason to go after him. It took a couple months all together, but I did get my parts. Plan B - hop on a plane and go to that address yourself. I'm pretty persistent & I suggest you at least file the police reports.... what the heck? I may have a lead on a bumper for you too. I'll PM you. Good Luck

Jwvr contacted me about my post for an edelbrock manifold about a week ago. Said he had one in great shape but he wanted almost as much as a new one sells for so I told him thanks but no thanks. Damn glad I did now! Thanks for putting the word out.

I suppose I've been lucky with the few transactions I made on this site, and even have established a great working relationship with one member in FL.

Thanks for the warning!

Thanks for the heads up and to everyone for their tips. As indicated a post history check is always a great heads up including references from other members. I've only been on here for about a year or so but I have had great luck and met some excellent people who have helped on both accounts. For the Cnandian members on here and for anyone doing or considering a Cross border transaction, The laws in Canada vary a bit from US Fereral Statues just like some laws can vary from State to State but for the most part are similar offences, just worded a bit differently. Absolutely report all these bandits. For obvious reasons violent crime will take priority over property or fraud and often times that is the reason for the appearance or lack of interest. Reporting it does matter and will for sure assist with catching a career bandit. Squeaky wheel gets the grease in these sort of situations. Make this guy a pain in the *** for law enforcement and I can assure you someone will reach out and touch him...Just like an AT+T Commercial.

66Satellite you are only about 5 miles from me.Do you have a pic of your car?Maybe I have seen it around.

My car hasn't been on the road yet except to take it to Classic Autobody in Roanoke for body work and paint. I expect to get it back in a week to 10 days. I'll try to post a picture on here then. I still have the interior to restore but I have most of the parts so it shouldn't take long. By the way, I recommend that if you need any body work on your Mopar, take it to Chad Getz at Classic Autobody. Do you have any pics of your GTS?

I sold the GTS. And I am doing my own body work can not trust anyone else. Now I have a 71 Road Runner and a 67 Formula S project.
