K-Mart buying Sears should is the biggest reason Sears is in such a decline. That and the fact the CEO of K-Mart is building a huge mansion in South Florida while closing stores around him.
I tried returning a framing square.it was a little out of square and couldn't read the numbers anymore. Took it to the register, cashier says" looks fine to me". I said" ok I have another one out in my truck, I'll be right back". Well I went outside and beat the **** out of it and brought it back in. They said" that's the same one" I said" no it's a different one!" I even got their fat sweathog manager out from behind her desk. They still wouldn't replace it. I said" well **** you you can take this square and shove it up your ***!" Then I wadded the square into the best ball that I could and threw it at her feet and left.Sure is a lot of piss poor service in our new "service based economy", isn't there?
On a positive note.
My craftsman riding mower, bought in 2005, is the best mower I've ever had. Not sure of actual manufacturer, but it's got a Kohler engine.
I also have a Kenmore dishwasher that's really a GE. Exceptionally easy to work on, and easy to get parts for (although I've had to do neither), as it's basically the same design since the 70's.
Several years ago (before the decline), I did have an issue returning a 3/8 ratchet that stripped.
The clerk took my mint condition tool, and instead of getting a new one from the shelf, went to the back room, and produced a pitted, dented, and gouged ratchet, that looked like it had been used as a hammer more than a ratchet, and then left out in the rain for a few decades. I had no choice but to accept it, as I needed to get my car back together. In hindsight, I should have probably started screaming at the top of my lungs about being ripped off until they gave me a new one just to shut me up.
sears sucks
HEY! Come on, Budnicks. Let's be fair about this. Not everything is outsourced to China. Just this weekend I grabbed a pair of Craftsman pliers, and it was plainly stamped "Made in Japan".
I have had direct experience with Both Sears and Goodyear.
Sears: When my 1/2" ratchet took a **** they gave me this beat up rebuilt one just as someone else said, that looked like it had been used as a hammer. I no longer buy tools from sears, I prefer to buy inexpensive ones from Harbor freight. Afterall their hand tools also have lifetime warranties and so far I haven't been able to break any.
Goodyear: These are the most worthless pile of **** tires on the face of the earth and I absolutely hate them. I have had 3 sets of good year tires and EVERY ONE has had these vibration issues. Our new 2013 Avenger has good year tires on it and is developing vibration at highway speeds with only 13k on it. There is no solution, a new good year tire will not solve your problem, just scrap them and buy something else...I think Kumho probably makes a better tire then goodyear either that or they are produced on the same production line.
I will NEVER buy a good year tire again and I attempted to get the dealer to swap my tires when we bought the car but they wouldn't...from now on, that's a deal breaker for me.
At one time Goodyear made the best tires you could buy, not so much anymore. I've had good luck with BFGs, and the Coopers I have on my truck now. I've had Michelins before that were really good but also real expensive. One thing that I wouldn't do is just blindly go to any tire store without checking them out first. A lot of the "tire techs" around here are trade school dropouts that can barely mount a tire without screwing it up, outside of doing an alignment or any other mechanical work. The big national chains are the worst. Once you find a good shop stay with them and let your friends know.
........ But if they stand good for the things they sell, the chances are better for getting more repeat customers in the future. But it seems they just care about the dollars they can make now & don't think about the future except for the money they could be saving themselves.
I have had a hell of a time finding quality shoes, with all this junk from china floating around. I finally found an American company in Wisconsin, Thorogood. Man they are comfortable, good for being on your feet all day, and nice for riding the motorcycle as well. They last forever, and you can actually resole them if necessary. I didn't look to see if they sell walking shoes, but look them up.Last Night I went to look for a decent pair of "walking" shoes.
Kohls dept' store keeps sending me 30% off cards. SO, like any other jack *** that receives a invite like this I went to explore my options.
BTW; many of the racks had #30% off everything in store!
WHAT A JOKE & HOKES! I find a "decent pair" of shoes (on my own), no service!!.....went to the check out and she said "you MUST open a charge now if you want the 30% off!..I said I HAVE A KOHLS CARD, she said it don't count you have to open an account!
So, I said the shoes are china junk, you keep'em and I WALKED!
also she was very rude:eusa_snooty: so I was too!
I'm sick of no service, no help , and lies!....I will find a small local shoe store and go there.
thank you for letting me rant
Sonny
P.S. ...just a glorified Wal-Mart!
That kind of thing has been happening in Asia, were some guy will buy a brand new BMW, lamborghini, or ferrari. The company will not fix the inevitable problems with their crappy product, thus the guy gets a whole group of his friends together and they destroy the car in a public space. The company then seems to suddenly realize the mistake they made, and authorize the original repairs. JUst showes ya the quality product of a 100K car, you get crappy service from the company, that is actually how lamborghini was created. The guy was pissed at the quality of his new ferrari, and took it to their facility, Enzo tells him that there couldn't possibly be anything wrong with his perfect car, and that lamborghini was just a tractor maker. Thus Enzo made the biggest mistake of his life, by creating his largest competitor rather than just replacing a cheap clutch. Plus the mura is one of the most beautiful sports cars to come out of a factory, they make any ferrari look like crap...nope, no lemon tree. He set the thing on fire(!) in the dealers lot. Just so tired of dealing with the dealer trying to get his top dollar new car's electrics to work properly that he poured lighter fluid on the interior and threw a match in it. It made the newspapers at the time, and was before lemon laws. I was just a kid, but it made an impression with me.
Customer service just plain SUCK's these days ! No body take's Pride and self respect in there work or product.
Just get there cash and out the door ASAP !
When I had my shop in lower MD I had a great customer base bult on Respect and pride in our work. When I closed it up I had people come up to PA at my privet shop to have me help them.
Also when was the last time you saw anyone help you out and ask for Nothing !!
(Other than you guys on here that is ! )
As for sears ! When I started working on things EEONS AGO . I used there tools and still have them to this day. If I broke one you would get a new one Or thay would repair it rite there. Last year I bought a 1/2" Long breaker bar. Was NOT cheap ! Well I proke the head working on a cummins . Went back and thay gave me a rusted up POS ! I asked why did I pay for a New tool and then you give me a beat up replacemend ? Thats Our policy !?!?!
