Selective fit front input bearing snap ring A833?

Anyone shim their input bearing snap ring with those 3, 5 or 10 thou shims?

I think I'm more concerned about a shim shreding and getting into the bearing.

Originally different thickness snap rings were used. They are no longer sold in varying thicknesses. I've never hear of using shims but I think if you did you'd put the shim between the bearing and gear. However, once installed there is no movement that would damage the shim so either way shouldn't be a problem. Since that front bearing is a press fit I can't see it being a big deal if there's a couple thou play.
