Hello everyone. I have a 67 Coronet 4 door. It has a 273 w/auto. I was wondering that since I have to replace the fuel tank and the sending unit anyway, can I put the 3/8 outlet unit in instead of the 5/16 unit. It originally had the 5/16. I don't think that it should matter but...who knows.. Later on I will be installing a 360 built motor and it will probably be needing it as well. Oh and the 3/8 are much cheaper than the 5/16 also.

You can but you won't notice any difference. I'm running a mild single 4 BBL 440 that pulls 109 MPH in the quarter and I have the 5/16" sending unit and lines. I can't say for sure what the HP cut off is for the 5/16" line but safe to say any mildly hot street engine with one 4 BBL will be fine with 5/16" line. Ideally, putting the 3/8" pickup in you would want to run the 3/8" line but that's a lot of work for no gain IMO.
