Let me get this straight :icon_scratch: You had a Hemi GTX all restored original and gave that up for a vette? Wow.
I thought vettes were for guys with small penis's? or is that 4x4's? :shruggy:

Its normally large vehicles for small penises, so I think the gtx owner would be smaller on a sliding scale, lol...
I can tell you first hand a nice 60's vette is impressive in person and to drive, truly a great american car, chevy or not, the car was ahead of its time, as most vettes were (minus some of the 70's and all of the 80's).
I know all these posts are in fun, but I notice a lot more mopar guys hating other brands vs say a chevy guy hating mopars. I am a car guy, not brand loyal, I like sexy cars, whether its a ferrari 330 p4 or a 32' ford roadster someone shaved the handles off and put a sbc in. It has tires and an engine, I can find something about it I like.
I have a good friend who is "ANTI FORD", hates fords, knows all the jokes, and is not afraid to insult someone for owning one. I tell him all the time, "grow up, your wife drives a hyundai and you drive a corrola to work" his pride and joy is a 73 big block dart that I hate to say it but runs like ****, he went way too high on the compression and cam for a car for the street and the suspension and tires wouldn't get you far on the track (seems a lot of mopar and chevy guys do this).
My point is, there is no problem being brand loyal, but saying that everything else is sh!t just shows insecurity, kind of like when women talk bad about their friends to make themselves feel better about themselves, just seems ******* warped to me...
Take a ride in an 1967 L88 vette, I know many of us wont get that chance, lol, I got it once and took it passenger seat or not, it was a blast!!! MORE fun than the ride I took in the 850hp shelby cobra (kit car). And if you say "I dont like little tight, well handling cars" then take a ride in an aluminum 454 chevelle ss (I have owned a couple), the cars are rocket ships and reliable...
Out of all the motor companies to hate Ford and Chevy added a lot to the muscle car era, chevy always had something fun to dream about copo, yenko, vettes, aluminum heads, aluminum blocks, they were the first to bring fun back in the late 80's with the grand nationals, gnx, etc... Ford put tons of money letting shelby do his thing of the years, also some pretty fun cars as of late. If anything Dodge has dropped the ball a bunch of times if it wasnt for lee the caravan and K car the company would be gone now. Shaming the charger name over and over first in the 80's with that little junk box and recently with the 4 door abortions they slapped badges on that should have been called intrepids...
OK, rant over, in short I love them all, if I can get my big *** behind the wheel its not too complicated to drive, Ill take it for a spin...

1967 was the last year for real corvette. Keep it. Buy the 67 back. wait for market to improve then dump the vet.
I thought those vents looked cheesy in the R/T!I have done a lot of a/c conversions and add ons, the vette looks about the best. With braided lines and all the pulleys it was under $2K, well worth it, classics systems seem to blow so cold... The car I had was a "real" car, but had some changes, larger wheels, a/c, smaller steering wheel, electric fuel pump, etc.. But with them cars you don't hurt them much with stuff that can be swapped right out...
Yah they look like **** in some cars, but in the vette they fit...

I love all cars trucks bikes trains planes anything mechanical as well mr seventy but I don't come on a b body mopar forum and rant about it. I wouldn't assume all of us are as you speak. Matter of fact of what you speak is the minority in the mopar world. This is a b body mopar forum.

Yeah prity common especially around here you get one hemi car for every 20 old rare vettes
Now I don't like the old gtx's to much there nice the vetted are cool looking.
But for me I couldn't get in and out of the vette like the gtx so it would be hands down the gtx
Why not sell the vette retail that way you get more then go shopping.look around don't rush it when you got over 100g's in your pocket you get a lot of choices

Well it seems everybody has an opinion...I'm no different. In my opinion you are choosing between two very unique cars. If you have a 67 Vette ...* condition pending.... and a GTX Hemi both are cars that only 1% of the classic guys WILL EVER OWN. I've been to car shows from Dallas to Miami and a few in Tinhuhcee and North Carolina I've seen MAYBE 3 of each cars you just mentioned. You are in a position 99.9 % of us will NEVER be in so our opinion doesn't count. Just MY opinion!

I'm no expert on Chevys but I don't recall them making a 70 Chevelle with an aluminum 454. An LS6 was the top dog for a 70 Chevelle and they weren't aluminum blocks or heads.
I'm a mopar guy, but I also like other makes. I personally think a chevy guy putting down a ford or mopar or vise versa is just part of the hobby. Its what makes it fun. I have several friends who owns Chevys and we have a ball going back and forth with each other.
I would go with the black hemi GTX myself. Probaly only made a hand full of black ones and you can get 67 427 435 horse vette anytime.

It was an option, rare, 1970 ls6 with engine code "crs", not to be confused with ls6/l89 rumors, I seen a 396 with l89 heads and I am not sure if it was "real" or not, but it did sell at auction for $300K before cars were doing 300K...
These are the motors I put in my chevelle ss's, that heavy car is lightened up and you will never drive something so much fun..

we bought 4 of them, they only made 200, my 2 were both put into chevelle SS's (I kept the correct motors and they were sold with the cars}, I ripped the FI system off, had the cams changed, and added custom victor intakes and BG carbs, motors were awesome, 560 hp, ran like a new car...
putting a limited edition 1 of 200 engine in a car ended up adding value.
I have since built a 3 454's using the 0850 blocks, sadly they raised the price on these blocks to $6K, I was getting them for just over 4K, making the entire motor from carb to pan cost about $9K finished, the new prices of parts would put one of them builds around $14K, which I cant see, so havent done any since... Plus now I am playing with mopars...
Them ZL1's were a score, I got almost 1/2 of the engines cost back when I sold the intake, ecm, valve covers, and cams. I wish I bought 10 of them, but the 4 I got were not easy to get my hands on, although I SCORED 3 of them 1 I paid over $20K for!!!

Whether an LS6 ever left Tonawanda w/aluminum heads (never the block) is still a bit controversial. Everything I've ever read or seen still leaves is up in the air. Not sure if there will ever be definitive proof.

Keep the Corvette and buy the GTX back too! They are only asking 149K! I can always thing of 3 cars I would like for 50K each more than one for three times that. Cars you can actually drive some without losing value are always a plus.

Well, I really miss the Hemi, but I am going to stay with the big block Corvette. They want 10K and the Corvette for the GTX back. A 1967 427/435 is worth more than a 67 Hemi GTX hadtop all day long.
So in effect, they are charging you $10,000 for the pleasure of having the 'Vette in your garage since you have had possession of it. :thinker:
