Has anyone ever tried this Shadow Black Chrome from Dupli-color? On valve covers, air cleaners or any wheels? Been experimenting with this on a few things but afraid to try it on something brand new. By the looks of this wheel that would be one coat, one thing is if you spray it on where it just plain looks completely black, When the sun shines on it you can see the chrome high lights gleaming thru. like the mirror or tail pipe extension.

After Wed. I just may look at a bunch, DSL BB on its way this week. Thanks.

Yes i think your right/there right... Thats why i asked, id like to know if anyone else had the jewels to try this stuff on brand new wheels or anything new. to use it on used scratched up chrome, it depends on what you like. I used this on a small air cleaner and it doesn't look bad, actually made it look better. i may have to buy a new one to compare it though. Wheels are just to pricey for me to experiment on. As far as old stuff, it did help a old Crager look alike that was solid rust, for an idea to see what it does i took it and cleaned it to death, shined great but really marred, bad scratched but with this stuff it did make it look better and it wont rust again but not worth keeping. hopefully someone has tried this on new wheels. This is under 20 bucks for the kit so thats worth the experiments to see what it does. I might buy a set of chrome exhaust tips and try it on them. I have a new large style air cleaner on my car, maybe ill get brave and try it on it...

Haven't tried this one.

I did use the Duplicolor chrome paint to rejuvenate the grille on my 71 Ranchero. I have the foldaway lights and the edges of the egg crate grille are supposed to be vacuum metalized chrome but were painted black when I got the car because the metalization was peeling. The finished product looks great from a few feet away and for a driver that's fine with me. Most people don't even notice. I bet if you prep the surface well you can get by as a 5 footer!

Ron buddy you don't want to scuff the surface before you paint that stuff it's translucent & will show any scratches or sanding marks that are under it, they make a cleaner prep spray that you are suppose to apply for proper adhesion, I did use some on my old RR that I recently sold, it had some dull chrome on the bumpers it made them look very good, kind of like they were black chromed, I haven't tried it on my latest RR yet, it need new bumpers & I'm thinking of going with fiberglass bumpers with chrome paint & black translucent paint over it, I've done it before & it looks pretty good... You need to be very careful with what you clean it with also it will scratch & chemicals may ruin it, read all of the instructions at their home web site at "Dupli-Color"... You can vary the darkness with layers... You need very good lighting & ventilation when you spray or it will show up streaky looking & little dust particles on top, show up really bad on translucent paints....Good luck.... Budnicks
