My wife and I were introduced to 6 Lab mix puppies around 2009 when we took our chocolate Lab Cocoa camping. The mama dog was "local" to the camping area and a chocolate Lab, the daddy was probably a hunting hound that had a different kind of quarry in mind. So they were 3 weeks old and up for adoption once they were old enough. My wife went back a few weeks later and brought all 6 home. I was working as a dog trainer at Petco, and we kept the biggest male and smallest female (Tony and Bitty) and adopted out the other 4.
The 3rd dog hit the jackpot when my wife got called in to work one Saturday and took a different route home than usual because of traffic in the heart of downtown New Orleans. She saw a little black Lab puppy (or so we thought-Lab) trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic by St. Joseph's church on Tulane Ave., a very busy street. She picked her up and brought her home, and suggested I could adopt her out too. Well, an hour later the hooks were in, I named her Laney and declared that she wasn't going anywhere.
2nd pig...Suzanna Elizabeth Pig, but we call her Sue E. Pig for short...My wife had 2 mini pigs before we got together, but didn't have them anymore. I wasn't interested in having a pig. That didn't seem to matter...
We got the first one, Rusty, when he was the last of a litter. Around 2 years old, he developed a cough and it turned out to be a mass on his lungs, and it was really bad, no chance for recovery, so we put him to sleep. I definitely didn't want another one, but at least I got to name her.
So yeah, 3 dogs and a 40 pound "mini pig"
