I've got a couple of 8-3/4 gearsets to sell (eons ago we called these "punkin' seeds"). Can shippers really handle things this heavy? Can someone who shipped one offer advice on how to do it?

Dan

I built a plywood box for the gear case that just slipped into a heavy cardboard box. For some reason at the time is cost more to ship a plywood box.
I think they considered one a box and one built out of wood a crate that would need to go truck freight. no issues except for cost.
I tried a sonotube concrete form inside a cardboard box it got there but the box was really beat up.

Use a 5 gallon bucket.

That's how I received one that I bought once. You should have seen the UPS guy lift it off the back of his truck (pucker power)! It just made it with the whole side of the bucket split open. Lol
