So my Original skin on my 1968 post runner is in great shape. So a fellow mopar guy gave me a modified Belvedere hood. No damage to skeleton.
Going to clean em up real good and mate them. Nice way to save a few hundred bucks!!

I don’t know about talent but at this point when I clean them up I can pinch weld them and no one(except you smart guys) would know the difference!!

Thank you for encouragement!!

"You can do it, Yes you can"
I think that is a great idea. Keep up the good work.

Why not? We are only capable of that which we are willing to try. I've thought about doing this before but haven't come to it yet. Perhaps after seeing this I might.

Was the original Road Runner hood inner structure rusty?

Was the original Road Runner hood inner structure rusty?
Yes,it was rotted away in al the important places, hinge area and front and rear edge. But the skin was in great shape.

Now I need to get some glass media and blast them and primer @ mate them.

Thanks for all the encouragement!!

i did this with a coronet bulge hood......frame was rotted, used one from a flat hood

I just did this a couple weeks ago with the RR hood that was on my satellite convertible, it really isn’t a hard swap at all. I was lucky enough to find an no’s satellite hood locally and used the skeleton from it and my old skin. It was only about 30 or so spot welds holding the hood together.

So I fitted it all together, then pulled it all apart to DA it and hit it with some rust inhibitor. I’m going to do another coat then primer it. I think I’m going to just clean up the skeleton it’s in perfect shape.

In process of similar project. Did you guys need any fixtures or jigs to get the hood inner and outer back together while maintaining flatness and square?
