Slight smoking during warm-up after changing oil type?

I recently changed out some Delvac diesel oil (either 15W-40 or 10W-40, I forget) for Quaker State's new "Defy" high-zinc oil at a 10W-30 mix.

Yesterday I noticed some light blue smoke out of my right pipe while I was letting it fast idle from cold.

I tried again just now and I still got some smoke, only out of my right pipe. It doesn't start immediately, only after the engine running at 1800 rpm for long enough to get the temp gauge up off the peg. After I knocked it down to regular idle, I was able to get a bit of smoke to appear from revving it but it seemed to go away altogether after a few more minutes. It's never very bad, I only noticed it from the smell at first and then the light haze, and it only seems to be coming from the right bank of cylinders. It also doesn't seem to appear at idle if I take it off fast idle early.

I'm not too concerned since this engine doesn't seem to burn oil like it has bad rings or anything (I rarely need to top up more than once every six weeks or so) but I'm wondering where it could be coming from. I never ever noticed this with the Delvac stuff or any other oil I've run through the car.

You went to a lighter oil so that may be the reason. And I never let my cars idle that high right after start up. I kick it off fast idle as soon as it starts but my fast idle is never that high. You might want to adjust that so it's more around 1000 or so....

like cranky says you went to a lighter oil and man thats a high idle from cold. its comparable to a valve seal leaking due to stopping after warm up.

Really? I just went off of what the spec sheet said for my particular version of AVS. I thought it was high too but just rebuilt it to the numbers. I'll knock it down some.

The spec sheet says to let it warm up at 1800?? Also, what about your front seal in the transmission? Running the engine that fast in park isn't too good from what I read since fluid isn't flowing to it in park....
