Snow in the Houston area.....

A wet snow Cranky!!! Perfect for snowball fights but not really that good for donuts and skitching!!! Only us upper midwest types would know about that!!! cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:
Well, did live in the NE for several years then spent 2 winters in Germany. Had fun too!

Southerners aren't accustomed to that stuff

our a-typical snow day,
it was in March a couple years back
(but that normal for like Dec, Jan or Feb)
after I cleared a path to the garbage cans & cleared off the handrails
I went in to find the camera
by the time I got back out to take the photo, another almost 1" had fallen
& it stopped for a while

sorry no recent weather shots

we're used to it, not rare, but still is cold

A little bit over 2" on the driveway and 3" in some areas out back. Shoveled a path to the shop....got tired of knocking the snow off of my shoes and not getting it all off and tracking it in. Last time to shovel snow was when I was 11!

Do I have to come down there and take care of that stuff?

I learned today that Georgia uses that infernal brine solution on the roadways. :mob:

Also, they're using a 3:1 ratio of small gravel and salt on some roads.

I could show you a typical winter scene in Houston,

but that would be Houston, British Columbia. Yes, we have one too. :)

We got 3 inches in Cypress. Supposed to be 20° tonight and last I checked humidity was 90%

So far 1 1/2" and still snowing. Had to get out and drive around and tried to do a donut in an empty parking lot but the rear wheels just piles up the snow and wouldn't do a anything more than about a 120. And that's with a 'posi-trac'. The snow is just right for making snowballs.
Push your "Traction Control" button off.

imagine getting this stuff everyday? like everyone on the east sides of any of the great lakes. I am far enough west of lake Michigan that it hits us with lake effect snow occasionally. have friends in traverse city where snow removal is pretty much a daily routine, until the lakes freeze over

Harris County uses that brine mess too but it's usually only on the freeways.

I'm one that hates traction control along with that ABS mess. Not sure if it was off or not but if it comes back on each time the engine is shut off and restarted, then it was probably on. I'm still learning this Colorado....it has soooo many dang switches and little lights. Finally figured out how to keep the 'alert gongs' silent at start up. After all these years of getting in, starting the engine then doing all the little things like adjusting the seat, buckling the seat belt, adjusting the mirrors and more lol, old habits die hard but that damn gong gong gong gong drives me nuts. One day the wife said "I think if the seat belt is fastened first, that gong stays quiet" and sure enough, it does. Still a pain when I just need to move the truck out of the way or just start it to let it warm up but that's what the remote start is for I guess :) So far I like that feature the most!

Need a separate buckle from the wreckers. Keep it in the cupholder

If you do get your newer vehicle stuck, you also have to push the "Traction Control" button off, to allow your wheels to spin a bit, to rock your vehicle back and forth. I once showed this to my neighbour across the road who had gotten her Chrysler 300 stuck in snow in her laneway. She was going to call a row truck, but I managed to unstuck her car by disabling T.C. Without doing this, the computer cuts engine rev's when it detects a wheel spinning.

Starting from 2nd gear helps.

The TC is off...spinning the wheels wasn't a problem at all. As the truck was sliding sideways it was pushing the snow and creating a berm even though the tires were spinning and basically drove away straight after going about 120 or so degrees.

Just be happy you guys don't use salt... Even for a once every decade snow.

I remember dad buying a 56 Plymouth Belvedere late in the year (demonstrator) and after a few years of driving it in the NE (Massachusetts), it was having rust issues around the top of the front fenders over the headlights and along the rockers. By the time it was 7, it was in pretty bad shape after repairing those areas.
