Pinion snubbers.

First off, how does it work? I get the obvious mechanical function of reducing the axle from winding over backwards, holding the pinion angle correct etc...

But I was hoping a true master black belt mopoligist could chime in with a more in depth explaination?

Also, does my 69 383/4spd RR have a snubber brace/plate on the floor for the snubber bumper to interface with?

Or was that just a hemi car thing?

Dave

Dave;you answered your own question. Yup;they're to prevent axle wind-up/rotation,and in conjunction with springs such as Super/Stock pieces(extra leaves for bias) "plant" the tires through leverage. Hope this helps;anyone else care to add more info?

My Sport Fury also has this plate;i think most 62-and-up Mopars had them.

I'll have to look for that plate, I don't remember seeing it under there before.

your 69 Roadrunner has the pinion snubber plate (unless its rusted off!!)
my 69 Charger has one I will post a pic, I have a couple pics of my Charger on the rotiserre so you can get a good view, Hemi cars had re-enforced spring hanger area.
