I went to the library for once and was just shooting the ****. When I saw a book on classic cars and there bookmark worths and production. It was very neat I guess 20 thousand 1968 chargers were made, 20,700 1969 chargers were made and 10,700 1970 chargers were made. Which brings me to the question how many 1970 chargers are left in the whole world running as a guesstimate speculation on this one. My guess is around 800 but I was wondering your guys educated guesses would be.

My book shows 74,886 in 1968, 69,142 in 1969, and 39,431 made in 1970.

Yeah those first numbers were way low. There's an average rule of thumb as far as percentages of the production #s that still exist today and although I don't remember what it is, I think it's certainly less then 20%. Probably more like 10%.

pretty close I would say.
In 1970, 7748 GTXs were produced. According to Roger Wilson at 1970 GTX registry he has 1072 in his registry, but there are probably at least another 500 out there. Or approx. 20%

I would tend to agree that is allot closer to real production #'s...

Maybe those numbers were refering to US numbers produced. I know europe and england I have found the generall lee over there which the funny thing is spawned the confederate flag to be found in european garages as a novelty.

Looks like the same can be said for the 71 Roadrunner?

well you can pretty much cut those numbers in more than half thanks to dukes of hazzard, bullitt, fast and furious and dirty mary crazy larry only to mention a few lol

Number I got from ALLPAR were as listed, 68 Chargers totals 96,100... 69 Charger totals 69,000... 70 Chargers totals 49,768 of that total #'s 10,337 of which were R/T's...

maybe that's where you got the 10,000 # from, Just the 1970 Charger R/T's versions

my book says total production 70 charger both 6 cly and v8 is 46,315 of those just 9509 r/t

MY guess would be there is absolutely no way to know. Registries only account for 'known' cars. There is no way to know how many are still hidden in garages or barns by people that don't take them out or participate in registries. There is no way to know how many are in running condition or what state they are in.

There are certain models that do seem to have a higher survival rate than others but I've never seen a logical argument for the 20% overall survival rate.
